The Maw is an Act 3 encounter. Its scaling over time both through buffing and its attacks increasing in intensity combined with its big health pool can make it a threat for decks with poor offense. Its scaling takes a particularly long time to ramp up to dangerous levels, however.

Jan 5, 2018 · Maw is one of the easier monsters it doesn't really counter any viable decks that have any chance of winning I.E Block, Poison, Shiv, Aggro, Strength stacking, or one shot style decks.

Maw Bank isn't the greatest nor the worst. It's one of those things like Runic Dome or Vampirism that causes you to consider your play more carefully and gives you the chance to do something you ordinarily would not try, i.e. see how long you can put off shopping.

Monsters are the ”basic enemies” of Slay the Spire, and landing on their icon on the map will incur a battle with one or more, depending on the floor. When they are defeated, they will drop coins, a selection of three cards, and sometimes a potion.
