[guide] How to conquer the Nether : r/Minecraft - Reddit
As for Nether fortresses, they seem to have a habit of embedding themselves in the ground. I covered at least a 600x600 area before finding just a glimpse of nether brick exposed in the side of a cliff. There were probably Nether structures closer to me, but impossible to find. And after all that searching, two blaze spawners and no netherwart.
I really really hate the nether : r/Minecraft - Reddit
Mar 22, 2024 · Nether fortresses and nether wart are extremely rare. It's hard to navigate and everything wants to kill you which would be fine except with lava basically being an instant kill since you can't get out of it and you need nether resources to brew fire resistance potions. God, I hate the nether so much.

So apparently keepInventory doesn't work in the nether.
Mar 16, 2022 · TL;DR: gamerule keepInventory true does not apply to the nether. Lost all my stuff. The only time I ever play multiplayer is on servers with just a few friends. At some point we decided we like to have gamerule keepInventory true. I'm not sure why. Maybe we're just bad or lazy or like the way Terraria does it.

Aug 5, 2021 · For the nether fortresses, your biggest concern is going to be wither skeletons. Place occasional blocks across hallways and cross sections leaving only a two block gap. They are taller than that and can't get through. If you can, bring at least one piece of gold armor so the piglins leave you alone. Also worth it to bring more gold to barter.
