Sep 25, 2020 · K &N filters are trash quality. They don't filter the air as well and have no improvement on air flow, hp or mpg. They're all hype. Sure, they have a little benefit over a 1965 air cleaner, but are nothing compared to today's computer designed air flow systems.

May 11, 2017 · There have been bad reviews on K&N air filters from just about every test that ever compared filters.Any improvement the you're feeling is most likely just that,a feeling.Unless you've had a lot of work done the stock paper filter will feed all the air it will ever need and actually filter right from new.

Feb 14, 2021 · At one point in time it was about the only aftermarket option but nowadays there are a lot of options. I did run a K&N in previous truck. I replaced the factory air filter with an K&N when the truck was maybe a 1 year old with 15,000 miles on it and just traded it in last year after 17 years and 150,000 miles with the same filter and no issues.

Apr 1, 2008 · K&N air filters provide less of a flow restriction than paper air filters. Thus, they allow the engine to "breathe" easier. They also allow a lot more dirt into your engine. That is easily verified through higher than normal silicon content on engine oil analysis. I would never put one on my daily driver. Like everything, it is a trade-off.

And even if it was a more dusty environment, needing more frequent changes, it's still fairly trivial. I've used K&N oiled air filters; seems to me you're gambling, with your ability to oil it "just right". Oil to much, you're reducing air flow.

May 19, 2014 · Crucial by cotton filters like K&N is the re-oiling procedure - less is bad, too much oil and your filter needs to sit a couple of days to drain excess oil. UOA should tell the story but with partial truth unless they state the size of dust/silicon particles.

And regardless of anything else, how much could you save to offset the cost of the filter. Maybe find another place to do your paperwork like a Dunkin Donuts or a Burger King?
