This template is designed to assist a clinician in completing an order for nebulizer devices, related compressors, accessories and FDA-approved inhalation drugs in meeting requirements for Medicare eligibility and payment. This template meets requirements for a Written Order Prior to Delivery (WOPD) and a Detailed Written Order (DWO).
Jan 16, 2012 · For the nebulizer vials, just put 1 vial tid-qid prn. We know it's through a nebulizer, so you really don't have to put it in the directions. Also, please state which size box you want to dispense, they come as a box of 25 vials and 60 vials. Most physicians just write something like dispense 1 box and we have to call and ask which size they want.
Under the DME benefit, Medicare does not reimburse for inhalation drugs unless they are administered with a nebulizer compressor; however, coverage may be available through other Medicare benefits such as Part D (e.g., for metered dose inhalers).
