May 18, 2013 · It takes a lot of common sense and patience to use a Harbor Freight chain grinder and get good results. The HF grinder is a very flexible device (It bends or distorts easily). So everything you do, - use the same speed and pressure with everything you do. I would check my work with a cheap angle finder for personal feed back on how I was doing.
Just Tried Out The New HF Chicago Electric Chain Sharpener
May 18, 2014 · So I got a Harbor Freight electric chainsaw sharpener a few weeks ago. Finally unboxed the thing and bolted it down to my work bench. I'm not gonna say I'll give up hand sharpening for good, but for really boogered up chains it worked wonders. Doesn't get them quite as sharp as a good hand filing does, but doesn't take near the time either.

Apr 15, 2013 · Sometime last fall I did a full chisel chain for my PP330 (16 inch bar) and in a hurry this spring, I grabbed that chain and put it on. I've never been able to file a saw chain (keep in mind I'm a hack saw operator) to where it was when new - close, but never like it cuts out of the box. That chain I sharpened with the HF sharpener cut great.
Portland electric chainsaw - Arborist, Chainsaw & Tree Work Forum
Jan 15, 2019 · I have a Portland electric chainsaw that I bought at Harbor Freight several years ago. Inside the saw (It's a clamshell design) there is a 59 tooth plastic gear, tan in color, that is stripped. Harbor Freight doesn't have the part. Harbor calls it part 30, large gear and bearing. Does anybody have any experience with these plastic gears.

Jun 9, 2010 · Rebuilt The HF Grinder I was able to rebuild the cheap Harbor Freight grinder and can now use it to handle the rakers (depth gauges). I use the 511a to sharpen the cutters and the little HF monster to take down the rakers. It seems to work well enough for that. So, that's one less wheel change and depth adjustment per chain on the 511a.
