The Town of Bladensburg is a residential suburb of Washington, D.C., on the Anacostia River. Originally called Garrison’s Landing, it was renamed in honor of Thomas Bladen, Governor of Maryland 1742-1747.

The Town of Bladensburg, Maryland is adjacent to the north and east of Washington, DC with whom it shares its southern border. Unlike towns where white-collar or blue-collar occupations dominate the local economy, Bladensburg is neither predominantly one nor the other.
