May 17, 2018 · In 1 Kings, chapter 19, the Bible says that the prophet Elijah, overwhelmed by the challenges he faces, asks God to let him die so he can escape his circumstances. He then falls asleep under a tree. The Angel of the Lord--God himself, appearing in angelic form--wakes Elijah up to comfort and encourage him.

And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah? 14 And he said, I have been very jealous for the Lord God of hosts: because the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.

The sudden appearance of the angel signifies divine intervention at a critical moment. Angels in the Bible often serve as messengers and ministers of God's will, providing guidance, protection, and sustenance. The touch of the angel is a gentle yet powerful reminder of God's presence and care, even when Elijah feels abandoned.

The angel of the LORD appears to Moses in the burning bush, signifying divine intervention and guidance, similar to Elijah's encounter. Psalm 34:7 Speaks of the angel of the LORD encamping around those who fear Him, offering protection and deliverance, akin to Elijah's experience.

In this moment of vulnerability, God provides for Elijah through an angelic visitation. The angel of the LORD appears to Elijah a second time as he lies under a broom tree. The angel touches him and says, "Get up and eat, for the journey is too much for you" (1 Kings 19:7).

Jun 22, 2012 · God sent a prophet named Elijah (eh-LY-juh) to declare that God would send a drought in the land. The drought lasted over three years, and the people suffered. Elijah proposed a challenge.

Verse 5 tells us an angel was touching him, awakening him to eat. But in verse 7 this angel is identified as “the angel of the LORD,” a description always used in the Old Testament of a special manifestation of God Himself. This was no ordinary angel.

Then Elijah lay down under the bush and went to sleep. An angel came to him and touched him. The angel said, “Get up and eat!” Elijah looked around, and by his head there was a cake that had been baked ...

While restoring Elijah’s strength, God taught Elijah to depend upon Him by sending the angel of the Lord to feed Elijah for 40 days and nights in the wilderness. The number 40 is associated with God’s testing.
