The first time the controller turned on the heating element, it instantly tripped my GFI outlet. The outlet actually broke since it was probably 20 years old.

Made in the USA. Also, this little safety recall article didn't give me much assurance or confidence of the Masterbuilt product line's quality.

May 30, 2023 · I had family in town for my daughter’s high school graduation. I used my CookShack SM066 electric smoker. This was my first brisket on this smoker. Cook time was 12 hours and 45 minutes and the brisket was held at 150 degrees for six hours. Start time was 2300 on 05-27-23. The smoker temperature was set to 180 degrees for an overnight cook.
Looking for comparison between Cookshack and Smokin It
Jun 2, 2014 · I had a Bradley smoker with a a BBQ Guru DigiQ2 and it had trouble getting up to temp when ever there was a modest breeze or it was below 65F outside. I am looking for a smoker that will go down to 100F, doesn't need constant tending and is well insulated. I believe the Cookshack SM045 mostly fit that bill, but the lowest temps are 140F.

Dec 15, 2014 · I go along with the old sarge. Among my smokers are two Cookshacks, the 009-02 and the 066. The 066 is a set it and forget it smoker that uses very little electricity and little wood, most of my smokes use 2 oz. of wood chunks. Cookshack has been building quality smokers, residential and professional for over 50 years.

Jun 7, 2012 · Well from what I've observed when I was looking for an electric smoker, is that the Smokin-It appears to be a copy of a Smokin' Tex, which is itself a copy of the Cookshack. So if you went with the Smokin-It, you'd essentually be getting a copy of a copy, with the quality of materials falling as you go.
