California's wildfire season is far from over and Shasta County's Shoe Fire stands out for the efforts to bring it under control. Here's what to know.

The Shoe Fire burning northeast of Shasta Lake in northern California has grown to 400 acres. The vegetation fire is burning on the Shasta-Trinity National Forest in the Sulanharas Creek near the Madrone Campground.

The Shoe Fire, burning northeast of Lake Shasta, continued to spread Wednesday night. By late afternoon it had reached 300 acres, with no containment. Shasta County sheriff's officials have ordered evacuations in the area of the fire, which is burning off Fender's Ferry road northeast of the lake.
