Vast Space, a California company, believes its Haven 2 design is the best successor to the decades-old ISS project.

Vast's Haven-2 concept joins three other commercial space-station proposals that have been submitted to NASA, and would string together modules launched from 2028 through 2032.

In late September, the inspector general identified 588 replacement parts that were operating beyond their planned operational lifetimes.

Thanks to a new contract from NASA, Sierra Space Corp. will develop a Trash Compaction and Processing System and test it aboard the International Space Station in late-2026.
