Serious flooding swamped parts of England on Tuesday and snow forced three airports to close temporarily as wet and icy weather combined to extend travel chaos that has plagued the U.K. since the start of the year.

Another band of wintry showers has led to "dangerous conditions", East Midlands Ambulance Service has warned. A yellow Met Office weather warning for disruption from snow and ice remains in force across west and north Derbyshire, and northerly parts of Nottinghamshire.
