Kenya has deployed heavy security at its border with Ethiopia after an attack by armed men in what authorities describe as cross-border clashes

Turkana county police said on Sunday around 22 Kenyan fishermen were unaccounted for, and that 15 boats were stolen, while six ethnic Dasenech fishermen from Ethiopia had been rescued and returned to their country.

Kenyan and Ethiopian authorities met Sunday evening to solve a standoff at the main border in Turkana following the killing of at least 20 fishermen in the area. At least 15 boats, a gun and other apparatus were recovered from the Omo River after the deadly attack in Lopeimukay and Lotiira areas.
