While council seats are typically four-year terms, the District 1 seat will be up for grabs again in 2026 along with districts 5 and 6 to help with staggering races as Irvine completes its transition from at-large to by-district elections. It would then be on a four-year rotation.

Ysabel Jurado and incumbent Councilman Kevin De Leon have been sparring over police spending since she got into the race last year.

Of the six candidates, Siegel has raised the most money, with nearly $128,000 since January. Powell raised the second highest with about $54,000. Bledsoe, who entered the race in July later than some of his opponents, has raised around $50,000.
