A national champion will be crowned Monday night in Atlanta, as the Ohio State Buckeyes and Notre Dame Fighting Irish do battle in the College Football Playoff national championship.

No one expected either of the two teams playing in tonight’s College Football National Championship game to make it this far. Oregon and Georgia were the favorites, but both were eliminated in early January.

Ohio State and (7) Notre Dame will face off for the sport's most illustrious prize. This will be Notre Dame's first shot at a national championship since 2012, while the Buckeyes are back in the national title game for the second time under coach Ryan Day.
