The Round Rock Police Department is investigating after a man involved in an alleged drunk driving crash got out of the car, walked into a wooded area and began shooting at officers.

Southwest Freeway and Shepherd were closed as a result of a deadly crash, where one person was actually found on a sidewalk below the freeway.

The crash occurred in the southbound lanes of the US-59 Southwest Freeway at Kirby Drive. The roadway is shut down.

Police say one person was located beneath the overpass. It is not clear if they jumped or were thrown from the crash.
