CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) — A Providence police officer suffered serious injuries after being struck by a car in Cranston. Police say Providence and Cranston police were escorting a funeral procession in the area of Cranston and Seneca streets when an elderly driver went to turn and hit the officer, who was on a motorcycle.

CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — A Providence police officer suffered serious injuries after being struck by a car in Cranston Friday. The officer was struck while escorting a funeral procession through Cranston, according to the Cranston Police Department.

The officer's injuries are serious but not life threatening. Charges are pending as the incident remains under investigation.

The number two-ranked Boston College Eagles defeated Hockey East rival Providence, 3-0, on Friday night at Conte Forum. Providence had won their last eight games dating back to November 19, when they were also defeated by the Eagles.
