Ahmed Basheer Awad, 20, of Westbrook, is accused of shooting another person inside the mall Wednesday afternoon.

SOUTH PORTLAND, ME. (WWLP) – Police in Maine are searching for a suspect who allegedly shot a person inside a mall in South Portland. The suspect is still on the run, according to NECN. South Portland Police urged the public to avoid the area of the Maine Mall during the search. They say it was an isolated incident with no risk to the public.

Police say the suspect was seen leaving the mall through the food court entrance. Anyone who spots the suspect is asked to call 911 and to not engage them.
