With the greater Los Angeles area reeling from a devastating string of wildfires, the Dodgers and Angels were among the 12 L.A. professional sports organizations that collectively pledged more than $8 million in donations to support disaster relief on Monday.

The money will go to organizations like the American Red Cross, the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, World Central Kitchen and more.

The Los Angeles Dodgers, Lakers, Rams, Chargers, Kings, Ducks, Galaxy, Clippers, Angels, Sparks, LAFC, and Angel City FC have come together to pledge over $8 million in donations to victims and first responders of the devastating wildfires.

Dozens of people are believed to have died in the Palisades and Eaton fires, which have burned down whole swaths of communities

As wildfires continue to devastate Los Angeles, leaving thousands displaced and causing widespread destruction, experts urge long-term support and careful giving.

The Los Angeles wildfires have devastated most of the Pacific Palisades area, with over 130,000 people forced to evacuate, with flames only being fuelled further by strong winds. The death toll has risen to 25 and the combined area burnt by the fires around Los Angeles is reportedly about 60 square miles.

As crews continue to try and contain the wildfires burning in the Los Angeles area, some of those affected are trying to put their lives back together, but for some, that is not an easy task.

More than a week into what could be the costliest wildfires in U.S. history, weary and anxious Los Angeles-area residents were hoping for a favorable shift in the winds expected Thursday and an end to the constant fear that their lives might be further upended.
