The mother of a 9-year-old boy is facing murder charges after prosecutors said the child was smothered to death, bound, and buried in a shallow grave behind a house in Detroit.

A Detroit woman is accused of smothering her 9-year-old son to death, burying his body in her backyard, and then moving to another state.

Brandee Katrice Pierce, 41, is now charged with first-degree murder, first-degree child abuse, felony murder, tampering with evidence, and concealing the death of an individual for allegedly killing 9-year-old Zemar King III.
