Israel has banned the pan-Arab Al Jazeera network and accused six of its Gaza reporters of being militants. The Qatar-based broadcaster denies the allegations and accuses Israel of trying to silence its war coverage, which has focused heavily on civilian casualties from Israeli military operations.

Thousands of Yemenis gathered on Friday (December 27) in the capital Sanaa, to protest against the Israeli airstrikes carried out the previous day on Yemen, and to show solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza.

At least 59 people were killed in Israeli airstrikes on Gaza, 50 of them in a strike on a building in the most northern part of the strip near the Kamal Adwan Hospital in Beit Lahia.

Gaza authorities said an Israeli airstrike killed five Palestinian journalists outside a hospital on Thursday (December 26). The Israeli army said the five were "Islamic Jihad operatives posing as journalists.

Although media workers are protected by international humanitarian law, journalists in Gaza face especially high risks as they cover the war.
