The City of Destiny will host one of nine “fan zones” around the state next summer: interactive events and experiences complementing six World Cup matches at Seattle’s Lumen Field in June and July 2026. Attendees can enjoy live matches on giant screens, entertainment from local musicians and brush up their soccer skills through on-site clinics.

Thurston County will host an interactive fan zone during the FIFA Men’s World Cup in 2026. The Seattle FIFA World CUP 16TM Local Organizing Committee (SeattleFWC26) announced nine fan zone locations across Washington state this week.

Yakima was selected as a site for a 2026 FIFA World Cup fan zone, officials announced at a news conference in Seattle this week. Mayor Patricia Byers shared the news at Tuesday’s city council study session and called it exciting for Yakima.
