Tomlin was named the Steelers' head coach in 2007. He took over for Bill Cowher, who coached from 1992 to 2006 and won the 2006 Super Bowl with Pittsburgh. When he stepped down as head coach, Cower left with a 12-9 playoff record, winning at least one playoff game in eight of the 10 times he led the Steelers to the playoffs.

Pittsburgh's problems on offense don't stop under center. The Steelers spent the entire season searching for another wide receiver to play alongside George Pickens but failed to find a consistent option. Pickens was under a lot of pressure, and most of the time, he cracked.
