Paula Badosa stunned Coco Gauff to reach her first Grand Slam semi-final and Alexander Zverev overcame Tommy Paul to book his ninth as the Australian Open awaited the blockbuster Tuesday evening clash between Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz.

Coco Gauff and Tommy Paul became the latest Americans ousted from the 2025 Australian Open, losing respective quarterfinal matches Tuesday in Melbourne. Top-ranked Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka advanced to the semifinals.

Paula Badosa overcame Coco Gauff to reach her first Grand Slam semi-final, ending Gauff's 13-match winning streak. Alexander Zverev defeated Tommy Paul to secure his place in the semi-finals at the Australian Open.

ESPN, the official channel of the 2025 Australian Open, did not show Coco Gauff's quarterfinal loss to Paula Badosa on its regular channels.

When Badosa ended the quarterfinal with a forehand winner, she placed her hand over her mouth, then knelt on the ground and bowed her head. This was a big moment for someone who reached a career-best ranking of No. 2 in 2022, but only now believes she's reached her full potential.

Paul survived a comeback bid by Australia’s Chris O’Connell in front a feverishly partisan crowd; the American tightened up when he served for the match in the fourth set, then fought through a shoulder injury to take the decider 7-5. Nishikori, meanwhile, came back from two sets down, and saved two match points, against Thiago Monteiro.
