DAME Joan Plowright was married to one of the most renowned actors of all time — Lawrence Olivier. Joan sadly passed away surrounded by her family on January 16, 2025. A family statement said:

Joan Plowright, perhaps the greatest Anglophone actor of the 20th century and the widow of Laurence Oliver, has died. She was 95.

Tony Award-winning actress Joan Plowright died on Jan. 16 at Denville Hall, a retirement home for actors in southern England. Plowright was surrounded by loved ones at the time of her death.

Part of an astonishing generation of British actors, including Judi Dench,​ Vanessa Redgrave, Eileen Atkins and Maggie Smith​, Joan Plowright won a Tony Award, two Golden Globes and nominations for an Oscar and an Emmy.
