The Cleveland Guardians traded first baseman Josh Naylor to the Arizona Diamondbacks last month and got pitcher Slade Cecconi and a top draft pick in return. Moving Naylor made sense in theory because he will be a free agent and the Guardians weren’t particularly keen on extending him.

Zachary D. Rymer of Bleacher Report recently compiled a wish list for each MLB team to improve their roster before Spring Training. For the Guardians, he identified an outfielder, starting pitcher, and second baseman as areas of need for Cleveland. The biggest piece missing from Cleveland's roster has to be another starting pitcher.

The Cleveland Guardians have many intriguing players, which will draw plenty of interest during Spring Training and into the regular season. However, RHP Slade Cecconi stands above the rest as arguably the most polarizing player on the roster due to his potential but overall lackluster performance in his limited big league appearances.

One of Cleveland’s biggest strengths is its bullpen. They have star closer Emmanuel Clase, who had a 0.61 ERA last season and led the league in games finished (66) and saves (47). They also have Cade Smith, Hunter Gaddis, and lefty Tim Herrin, all of whom had sub-2.00 ERAs last season.
