German Laura Müller was hailed by her Haas team after becoming the first woman to operate as a race engineer in Formula One. She was the voice in driver Esteban Ocon's ear during the practice sessions on Friday for the season-opening Australian Grand Prix.

Haas F1's Laura Mueller will as of 2025 be the first female race engineer in the history of F1, a fact she considers to be 'quite sad', which however, may have a positive impact on the main issue behind the lack of female technical personnel in the racing series.

Mueller, who will be working with Esteban Ocon this upcoming season, has been promoted from her former role as performance engineer.
