Penn State football’s season ended Thursday with a 27-24 loss to Notre Dame in the College Football Playoff semifinal at the Orange Bowl in Miami Gardens, Florida. The Fighting Irish secured the victory with a game-winning drive, capped off with a field goal from Mitch Jeter.

Mitch Jeter hit a go-ahead 41-yard field goal with seven seconds left, which was set up by a Christian Gray interception at the Penn State 42-yard line with 33 seconds left to play.

Notre Dame beat Penn State 27-24, in the Orange Bowl Thursday night, Jan. 9, 2025 before a sellout crowd of 66,881 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens. The Irish will be in their first title game since 2012. Coach Marcus Freeman will be the first Black head coach to take his team to the national title game.
