When Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was confirmed as America’s secretary of health and human services, neutral observers might have asked themselves: Would it be possible for a lawyer who had questioned the safety of childhood vaccinations for two decades to look at the available data and reconsider his views?

Cases in the ongoing measles outbreak have risen to 258 across Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma, and state health departments are urging more people to get the measles-mumps-rubella vaccine.

While public health authorities in Texas and elsewhere are doing their best to contain the latest outbreaks, RFK Jr. is going on Fox News talking up the benefits (?!?) of measles infection and making the vaccine sound as bad as the disease.

“Infected people are contagious from 4 days before the rash starts through 4 days afterward. The incubation period for measles, from exposure to fever, is usually about 7-10 days, and from exposure to rash onset is usually about 10-14 days (with a range of 7 to 21 days),” the CDC says.

Measles is one of the most contagious diseases and cases are rising nationwide. There are ways to know if you have immunity.
