Madras High Court on Friday took suo motu cognisance of an alleged sexual assault of a student at Anna University here. A second-year student of Anna University was allegedly sexually assaulted by a man on the university campus on the night of December 23.

The accused entered the campus and sexually assaulted the second-year student behind a building after thrashing a male student, who was accompanying her.
