Here’s a synopsis: SpongeBob SquarePants’ tiniest frenemy, Sheldon J. Plankton, is finally getting his close up. When Plankton’s latest evil scheme is thwarted, Bikini Bottom and the surface world become threatened by an unexpected danger. Now, before Plankton can take over the world, he’s going to have to save it.

That's right: Sheldon J. Plankton (voiced by Mr. Lawrence) is getting his own film. But SpongeBob (voiced by Tom Kenny) and his friends are still very much involved — much to Plankton's dismay.

Plankton: The Movie is the second of the Netflix SpongeBob spinoff movies. The first followed Texan scientist squirrel Sandy Cheeks saving Bikini Bottom from scientists who scooped it up from the ocean to study it. The new movie swims into Netflix on March 7.
