Fox CEO Lachlan Murdoch delivered a brief elegy this morning for shuttered sports streaming JV Venu but detailed plans for its own streaming service this year.

This writer would like to personally apologize for writing that Venu —Fox, Disney, and Warner Bros.’ D.O.A. sports streamer—was “unnecessary” or “had a silly name.”

The still-unnamed service will target cord-cutters and cord-nevers — much like Fox’s Tubi streaming service — and is not intended to siphon off cable subscribers.
