Noel Tata, the chairman of Tata Trusts, which holds approximately a 66% stake in Tata Sons, is set to be appointed to the board of Tata Sons. This appointment will make Noel the only member of the Tata Group's founding family to hold positions on the boards of both Tata Sons and Tata Trusts.

Sources suggest there is no hurry for Noel Tata, but changes are likely to start with the Trusts themselves, which hold 66 percent in the holding company, Tata Sons, which then holds stakes in Tata operating companies.

Tata Trusts is the Tata group's philanthropic arm. Noel started seeking legal advice on his continuation as the chairman of certain Tata group firms since he took over as Trusts chairman on October 11 following the demise of his step brother and legendary industrialist Ratan Tata two days days before at the age of 86, The Economic Times reported.

Noel Tata, appointed as the chairman of Tata Trusts last week, is also the chairman of other Tata Group companies including Trent, Tata Investment Corp and Tata International and the Vice Chairman of Tata Steel.
