California's wildfire season is far from over and Shasta County's Shoe Fire stands out for the efforts to bring it under control. Here's what to know.

The Shoe Fire burning northeast of Shasta Lake in northern California has grown to 400 acres. The vegetation fire is burning on the Shasta-Trinity National Forest in the Sulanharas Creek near the Madrone Campground.

Shoe Fire initially started 1:18 p.m. Oct. 9 in Shasta County. Since its discovery nine days ago, it has burned 4,186 acres, an increase of seven acres since the last update. By Friday morning, a crew of 485 firefighters effectively contained 8% of the fire.

A weather alert was issued by the National Weather Service on Friday at 3:02 a.m. for fire danger until 7 p.m. for Sussex, Warren, Morris, Hunterdon, Somerset, Middlesex, Monmouth, Mercer, Salem, Gloucester,
