Approval of the Republican budget plan left major questions about tax cuts and spending reduction for another day.

The 52-48 overnight vote puts pressure on the GOP-controlled House, which plans to take up its own competing budget resolution next week.

Now the onus is on House Republicans to build enough support to advance their own party-line plan, or face pressure to back the Senate’s slimmer vision.
