It hasn’t been the season that Elias Pettersson nor the Vancouver Canucks hoped it would be for year one of Pettersson’s eight-year extension. Off-ice drama with JT Miller aside, the biggest disappointment for the Canucks this season has undoubtedly been Pettersson’s lacklustre play.

The 4 Nations Face-Off starts Wednesday, February 12, when Canada takes on Sweden. The game will feature two Canucks as Pettersson will take on Tocchet, who is an assistant coach for Team Canada. Puck drop is scheduled for 5 pm PT and can viewed on Sportsnet.

After the JT Miller trade and Quinn Hughes’ injury, Elias Pettersson becomes the only skater representing the Vancouver Canucks at the 4 Nations Face-off – goaltender Kevin Lankinen is also playing for Team Finland.

Is this real life? It hasn’t set in for J.T. Miller yet. He doesn’t think it will until he’s through the 4 Nations Face-Off and probably not until the summer.
