A massive effort is underway in Corvallis after a 19-car freight train derailed when a bridge over the Marys River collapsed, sending one train car into the river and left another one dangling.

According to the U.S. Coast Guard, the incident occurred at around 5 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 12 when a 497-foot bulk cargo vessel carrying canola seed ran aground after experiencing mechanical failure.
