New Jersey residents felt the tremors after an earthquake shook the region Friday afternoon. The United States Geological Survey revealed a map that confirms an earthquake of magnitude 2.4, 1 kilometer ESE of Paramus in New Jersey.

A small earthquake shook Bergen County, New Jersey early Friday afternoon. According to the USGS, a magnitude 2.4 earthquake struck near Paramus just after 1 p.m. Friday. The quake was at a depth of 4.

Molina lives about 20 minutes from where the earthquake was centered near Paramus, New Jersey. The U.S. Geological Survey gave the quake an initial rating of 2.4 magnitude. It happened just after 1 p.m. Paramus is about 17 miles north of New York City.

Hundreds of people reported feeling some weak shaking to the USGS with some as far north as Poughkeepsie and even into some parts of Long Island.

People as far away as Connecticut, Massachusetts and North Carolina reported they felt shaking Friday afternoon.
