Calamos Investments Head of ETFs at Matt Kaufman joins CoinDesk to discuss the firm's new ETF product that promises to protect investors from the volatility in bitcoin’s price hit the market. Plus, insights into innovating with security.

Naperville, Ill.-based Calamos Investments is continuing to innovate in the structured exchange-traded fund space by launching the first-ever 100% downside protected bitcoin ETF. “This will mark the world’s first bitcoin ETF that has built-in risk management,” said Matt Kaufman, head of ETFs at Calamos, in an interview.

Last month, a Financial Times report revealed that asset managers, including Calamos, will introduce derivatives-based Bitcoin ETFs to help risk-averse investors profit from cryptocurrencies' huge price swings even though there will be a limit to the profits they can make.

A major exchange-traded fund provider is trying to take the volatility out of bitcoin investing. Calamos Investments launched the Calamos Bitcoin Structured Alt Protection ETF (CBOJ) on Wednesday. The firm brands it as "the world's first downside protected bitcoin ETF.
