Despite temporary halts to the Adani Group's plans to operate Kenya's main airport due to protests, the ports-to-power conglomerate has secured a $736 million contract to construct three power transmission lines.

Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua has insisted that the deals between the government and the Adani group are unacceptable. In a statement, Karua stated that the deals have not been transparent and competitively awarded as required by the Constitution.

Kenya signed a $736 million deal with Adani Energy Solutions Ltd. for the construction of three power lines, according to Energy Secretary Opiyo Wandayi.

Ketraco and Adani Energy Solutions signed the deal on Wednesday, marking the country’s first public-private partnership-funded power project.

The project will improve regional integration and economic development by ensuring more stable and reliable electricity supply across the country.
