We went to beautiful Calheta Beach while on our organized "West tour of Madeira". (Short stop) There is an artificial! but superb, sand beach (exceptional for Madeira) and also a nice, but small beachwalk Clean, chill, .... We enjoyed poncha/local drink and icecream on the terrace of Essencia do Atlantico... As far as we understand it's a "public place/beach", not for hotel guests only Calheta is however kind of "far away" .... from Funchal ... 1 day at Calheta beach sounds great Enjoy
