Hi, I'm a Thailand addict and looking for the next fix. 2020, despite my best intentions to go somewhere else, is looking very much like Thailand again and trying to find new places. We are not beach people and tend to stay more to the north, but this time would like to put in a beach area, but one that's got a bit of everything not just sand and sea. Hua Hin looks like it might tick all the boxes but as you've been there, I would like to ask for first hand experience - are there places that we can get tranquility as well as vibrant areas? Your tips would be appreciated!

We loved Hua Hin, it is not touristy like Pattya and Phuket. We love the North too, Chiang Mai is our favourite. We felt there was something special about Hua Hin, Lots of little streets to wander, Good seafood restaurants. We did a day trip to Phraya Nakhorn Cave which I would highly recommend, it was absolutely beautiful. check the time for the light and aim to get there a little before tot take int eh full beauty of it. We love the beach for walks and did swim, but mainly just wandered the streets and took in the local atmosphere. I would recommend being there on a weekend and going to Cicada Market it is good, not your usual night market. Tamarind market is also good to eat at. We spent 5 nights in Hua Hin before heading to Chiang Mai and wish we had stayed a little longer. I think there is a good mix of opportunities for tranquility and vibrancy.
