Amazing state park that combines history and nature. The well preserved fort is just part of the adventure. There are plenty of hiking trails and beach access to get lost in nature.Full review by jwdonten

Fort Clinch State Park sits at the northern end of Amelia Island. The elevations there are among the highest on the island. Amelia received wind and some storm surge. There was mostly organic debris and the occasional downed tree. Though I haven't been into the park since Dorian passed, its fate couldn't be too different than that of the island as a whole. Egans Creek absorbed most of the storm surge near the park. All in all, Amelia Island fared quite well and I'm sure the park did, too!

You can fish off the beach all around Fort Clinch and at this time of the year you should have no trouble catching some Whiting which are great eating. Try pieces of dead shrimp or my personal favorite, a small strip of squid. Use a fish finder rig with a #1 or 2 circle hook. You also have a very good chance of picking up a flounder or 2 as well.
