The elk at typically skidish, but I have had one get within a foot or two sniffing for food. If they are hungry they will get closer, because some visitors have fed them. The Bison will get close only because their feeding stations are close to the road. The Bisons have no fear of you the car or anything else. They are unlikely to even snort at you, although there is an occasional Bison who will strike a pose for you. If you are lucky.
They are open everyday at 8, enjoy! There is also a burd sanctuary on the same road, on the rightside right before Lone Elk park that has many beautiful eagles.
