Amazing natural beauty, the views were fabulous, the staff were helpful. And it’s free! Truly a part of natural Ecuador you need to experience. We only did half the hike around Lake Teodoro, it’s a l…Full review by soccerboy328

It is worth going tho this national park if you have enough time in Cuenca. The landscape is gorgeous and although I am a sun lover, I did not mind so much having a grey day. However, our hotel recom…Full review by mariellette2022

Amazing place to go with family especially with the children. It is near to cuenca. You might take a car for the ride from cuenca because it is too far to walk there. Also it is too cold , so you mi…Full review by María jose P
Any updates on bus service here? It's been a few years since Anna's post, and when I tried contacting the bus company by multiple means, there were no responses (it's Latin America, I realize this means little other than that they aren't good about online responses). The other "hiccup" is Terminal de Sur doesn't really bring anything up in online searches, and the only point I could find on Maps was nothing... there is no terminal there (I went yesterday). I guess I would have to go to Terrestre, which is fine, though farther away, but it's a bit of a distance without even knowing if and when buses run on a Sunday. Would love it if anyone has a photo they could upload of a schedule, or any information that may be more relevant at the end of 2021. Thank you!

Just to add to this, I am mostly seeing information about Express Sucre buses when I do a search again now, and it's said they only run a few times a day, which would make having a schedule all the more important. I will try to look into this, and report back should I not hear anything from others before that, but it's rather annoying trying to plan a day with so little information. It's bad enough the weather window for today looks rather small in the national park (though I've already learned, both from living in the mountains in Colorado for years, and from being in the Andes for some time now, the job of a weatherperson here is a joke...).
How much does a taxi charge from Cuenca to El Cajas

Depends on where you want to go. You can catch a bus for $2 per person. They will drop you off at one of the Cajas entrances. If you want to go to Llaviucu, a bus might drop you close to the cobblestone road entrance, but then you have to walk that road for over 2 miles. Most taxi drivers will bring you all the way to the control entrance of Llaviucu for $10. Feel free to contact me on Instagram @explore_cajas if you have more questions.
Hi We are going on a trip to Ecuador in May. We are stopping in Cuenca in the second week of May with an option to go to Caja. Looks like this is not a good time of year to go? Any advice. We have transport from Cuenca to Guayaquil which includes stopping in Caja briefly on the way. Is it best to go ourselves on another day or will this suffice at this time of year? We enjoy walking but probably only would do a gentle hike. Thank you.

There is a gentle lake walk which we loved. We did it today...April 5...and the weather was cool but that is fine for me as the sun might make for hot hike. Why not try the lake hike and see how you like it? It should be lovely in May. You don't mention how long you will be in Cuenca. Unless you have adjusted to the altitude (you might be arriving from Quito, for example) give yourself a few days to adjust. Even the easy lake hike might be a bit of a challenge.
