HART (Homeless Animal Rescue Team) of Maine is a no-kill shelter and adoption center for cats in Cumberland, Maine. HART’s mission is to provide refuge, comfort, and comprehensive medical attention for all cats that have been surrendered, abandoned, injured, or abused–and to find appropriate community placements for them. HART began in a renovated barn in 1997 and our shelter building was constructed in 2004. It was custom designed for cat sheltering and offers our feline residents an open environment which allows them the freedom to run, play, and form bonds with each other. All of our cats receive lots of love and attention as well as expert veterinary care.
