An amazing tour. The history on the trip out, and back was amazing. Loved this tour. I have visited many battle fields, but to see where the Civil War started was an amazing and that was something… Full review by Thomas R

My review mirrors most of the other 5 star reviews for Fort Sumter. The ferry ride is full of information both ways; the park rangers were very helpful in answering questions and sharing history of … Full review by Alan A

Wonderful sail for 30 mins to Fort Sumter. High winds and the crossing was very calm and no real noticeable movement in the boat. Fort Sumter is fine. Not what it used to be but and excellent museum … Full review by John Campbell H
Going on a Wednesday in August. Is it necessary to book tickets ahead?
A:
We bought our tickets the day we went. It may be the same for you as it wasn’t overly crowded. I think this is due to the warm temperatures and high humidity. Enjoy your visit.

Yes, but make sure you have appropriate rain gear. You can sit inside the boat going over, and at Fort Sumter, there is an interesting museum inside the building. However, you will want to walk around outside at Fort Sumter, so you will need a raincoat and/or umbrella for that. I am assuming the tours run rain or shine, but you would need to double-check with them directly to confirm.
I woud ike to know if it is possible to tour Ft. Sumter and Boone hall in one day?
A:
Absolutely if you get an early start on the day. However, if you're going to do the ship tour as well (at Patriot's Point), you will have to rush through one or the other.
