Sidney is an unincorporated community in Comanche County, Texas, United States. According to the Handbook of Texas, the community had a population of 196 in 2000. Sidney was originally known as Jimmie's Creek, Canady or Round Mountain before being named after a son of the community's first postmaster, John C. Stapp, in 1886.
