Sarawak Oil Palms Berhad (SOP) started out as a joint-venture between the Commonwealth Development Corporation (CDC) and Sarawak State government in 1968 to pioneer the commercial planting of oil palms in the state. SOP’s upstream of oil palm estates and mills are all located in the state of Sarawak, the largest state in Malaysia, and Malaysia is one of the world’s largest oil palm growing regions. In the early days, SOP had only 4,600 hectares of oil palm plantation.
