Tree skiing in deep powder, which there was plenty of, was the highlight for me, otherwise I found the limited number of groomed runs to be crowded and boring. My wife, who does not ski in the trees…Full review by 789nathany

Q:
My husband and I (66 and excellent skier, and me, 61 and average skier) are planning our first ski trip to Japan. We would like to go to Niseko and want a ski-in, ski-out experience. There is a new hotel called Hinode Hills, Niseko Village. Is this in the 'heart' of the village, close to lifts? And is it in any area where it will be easy to get groceries at the end of the day as they are offering an apartment experience? Are there reasonably priced restaurants nearby? We would like to hire two guides or one guide and the lesser able skier could take group lessons with a ski school if there is one nearby. Will this hotel/apartment block meet our needs?

Hilton Niseko Village is at the heart of the central mountain base. From there, you can easily access the lifts and get on busses to take you to neighboring ski area bases. Its a beautiful spot and the service is excellent. If you want a big ski town to run around, though, the whole Niseko area may not be it for you. Gorgeous skiing though.

I travelled by train. My route back then was Sapporo to Hakodate to Niseko. If not mistaken, you should be able to take a direct train from Sapporo but please check on the train station you can stop as not all stations is operating especially during winter. I assumed you are staying at Hilton in Niseko Village Ski Resort? There is shuttle from the nearby train stations to Hilton. Please check on the train station that is operating and has the shuttle services.
