Don’t just visit the botanic gardens. The park,is so much larger than that. Lots of places to walk. Many park benches, both in the sun and shade.Full review by LennyLH

Christchurch i-Site visitor centre is fabulous. They will be able to answer your questions, are very helpful for anything you need to know. Even helped to search for a car rental place that offered best prices. I would think you can bring your own picnic as Hagely Park is huge, amazing places along the Avon River to sit and enjoy. There's a small lake, amazing gardens, and benches throughout to rest. As well a few eateries to buy coffee, lunch or dinner are in the park or nearby walking distances.
